    Description

Calvin Coolidge Typed Letter Signed. One page, 8.25" x 10.75", Northampton, Massachusetts; April 25, 1902. Written on Coolidge's personal letterhead the letter reads: "Mr. Feiker will be in Boston next Monday and will probably be at the hearing before Judge Lowell with you. I presume Mr. Doe will have T.G. Spaulding, Esq., of this place for counsel. He is a very able man and a thoroughly fine gentleman, but I think it is safe to say that he will simply not take the trouble to look up the law on this case. He evidently is the one who advised Doe not to answer, thinking this was some process to collect the money back from Doe. I presume Doe will say that he borrowed from Allen R. Clark. On Jan. 31 he put a second mortgage on his place to Clark for about $1200, perhaps to cover it up from attachment. I enclose my declaration against the Bank, if you see any change that you would advise please not it. As this is the only copy that I have you may return it soon." Signed by Coolidge in black ink.

Condition: Usual mail folds, light toning that is darker at edges. Small pencil notations and upper and lower left corners. Area of soiling at upper right corner.
