Description

Barack Obama Autograph Letter Signed. One page on a White House imprinted notecard, 6" x 3.5", Washington; no date. Addressed to "Susan" (possibly Congresswoman Susan Davis), Obama writes in full, "Thanks for your leadership on TPA. I know it was tough, but it will be good for American workers and business - and it wouldn't have happened without you!" Signed, "Barack Obama." Encapsulated by PSA to an overall size of 9.5" x 6".

In 2015, Congress passed a bipartisan Trade Promotion Authority bill granting President Barack Obama the right to negotiate and secure deals with other countries. A traditionally standard power that had been issued to every president but Roosevelt, the 2015 TPA allowed Obama to establish the Trans-Pacific Partnership between the United States and eleven of the fastest-growing nations in Asia and the Pacific. The agreement focused on strengthening labor and environmental concerns, putting in place a minimum wage as well as protections against illegal wildlife trafficking, among other stipulations.

A great exemplar of a scarce ALS as president commemorating a hard-fought legislative win.

Condition: Very fine with no visible marks.
