    Description

Andrew Johnson Partly Printed Document Signed: "I hereby authorize and direct the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to a warrant for the pardon of Edward [sic, Edman] Spangler dated this day." One page, 8" x 10", Washington, 1 March 1869. Spangler was the Ford's Theatre stagehand convicted for helping Booth escape. This document, like almost every other contemporary mention of him, mistakes his given name. With light staining around the edges; fine.
