    Andrew Johnson Appointment Signed as president. One partially printed page, 17.75" x 11.5", Washington, July 13, 1866, countersigned by William H. Seward as secretary of sate, appointing "Charles R. McFadden...by and with the advice and consent of the Senate...Deputy Postmaster at Waterville, in the State of Maine...And to have and to hold the said Office...for the term of four years...'" Blind embossed paper Seal of the United States in the lower left. Very light, uneven toning. Small holes at intersections of folds with no loss of paper and not affecting the text and slight separation of the folds at the edges. Ghosting from the seal over Johnson's signature, which remains bold and bright.
