Description

Andrew Jackson Signed Military Appointment. Single sheet of vellum, 13" x 16.25" (sight); City of Washington; July 1, 1834. Issued to William Eustis appointing him to the rank of second lieutenant in the regiment of dragoons. Countersigned by Lewis Cass as Secretary of War. Matted and framed to the overall size of 24" x 28".

Condition: Slight buckling to the vellum. Cass's signature is faded at the end. Jackson's signature has lightened a bit but remains very visible. Wooden frame has chipping to surface.
