Description
Andrew Jackson Land Grant Signed. One partially printed sheet of vellum, 15 5/8 x 9 3/4 inches; City of Washington; November 10, 1830. Document granting "Ezra Beardsley of Lenawee county, Michigan... the West half of the South West quarter of Section five, in Township eight South, of Range fifteen, West,... fifty-seven acres, and thirty-two hundredths of an acre." Signed, "Andrew Jackson" as President and countersigned by Elijah Hayward as Commissioner of the General Land Office. Blind embossed seal at bottom left. Docketed on verso.Condition: Toning, scattered stains, and flattened folds with two crossing Jackson's signature. Light foxing along folds and bottom left margin, and small chip to right edge with small loss to bottom right corner. A pinhole at top left corner, as well as a pinhole and small tear at bottom left corner. Seal is cracked vertically with some edgewear and scattered stains. Ink blotch on verso, as well as a small area of loss revealing wax seal, and pencil notation at right edge.
