Abraham Lincoln Unsigned Autograph Document. Vermilion Co., Ill., 1 November 1855, one and one-quarter pages, folio. A bond in George W. McCollom vs William I. Allen, Ward H. Lamon and O.F. Harmon, signed by the latter three. The state court having agreed, upon Allen's petition, that this case be removed "into the next Circuit Court of the United States" for the "Southern District of Illinois, upon the ground that...McCollom is a citizen of...Illinois, and...Allen...a citizen of...Indiana, and that the matter in dispute exceeds the...value of five hundred dollars", the defendants furnish this bond in the amount of $100, it to be void if Allen duly files in the federal court on the "first day of its next session, copies of the process against him..." Old glassine repairs to folds on verso; darkly penned. A scarce autograph of Ward Hill Lamon, who was Lincoln's only official local law partner on the 8th circuit, as well as his Civil War marshal of the District of Columbia and unofficial bodyguard.
