    Description

Abraham Lincoln: Signed Postmaster Appointment. 16" x 10" printed and manuscript document on thin paper appointing George E. Jennings as Postmaster of Waupun, Wisconsin. Boldly signed by Lincoln and Secretary of State William H. Seward. Washington, D.C., November 1, 1864. Many years prior, Lincoln received an appointment as Postmaster at New Salem. Does his appointment from Andrew Jackson still exist? Probably not... it was likely part of the Grimsley trunk of documents discarded into the fire. Partial separation at folds; else, a particularly fine example.
