Description

Abraham Lincoln Officer Commission Document Signed. One page, 15" x 19", on vellum, partly printed, Washington, April 12, 1864. An appointment of Angelo Crapo to the "...Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers with the rank of Captain..." effective April 7, 1864. Crapo was born in New York and was brevetted major on June 24, 1865 before mustering out two days later. Boldly signed by Lincoln as President at the conclusion, and countersigned by Edwin Stanton as Secretary of War, and by Edward Townsend as Asst. Adjutant General in the docketing information on the front. Fine condition with just a bit of fading to the ink and folds as usually found, seal intact though folded. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
