Description
Abraham Lincoln Clipped Signature and Carte de Visite. Clipped signature reading "A Lincoln" measures approximately 1.5" x .5" and has been affixed to a 3.25" x 2" card, n.p., n.d. As was common at the time, Lincoln used whatever paper he could find, often writing on the verso of a previously used leaf. Here, Lincoln has done just this on the back of a sheet of blue-lined paper which has been turned sideways; faint writing on verso can be discerned. Minor age toning. Signature is accompanied by a 2.25" x 3.5" carte de visite of President Lincoln. The bust albumen print has been affixed to a slightly larger photographer's mount with trimmed edges. Trimming does not affect image, which shows minor toning and is in fine condition.Auction Info
