Abraham Lincoln: Autographed Note Signed. As is well known, Abraham Lincoln was the only U. S. President who was issued a patent. Prior to becoming President, he wrote and delivered a lecture on innovation and scientific discovery and, while President, took a keen interest in new weapons and technologies. We offer this 3 ¼" x 2" note card inscribed: "Quarter Master General, please see Mr. Duncan, of Montreal, who wishes to exhibit a discovery for the protection of wooden structures against fire. A. Lincoln Jan. 12, 1865". According to "Collected Works", Mr. Duncan and his invention have not been identified. The two-sided card is currently housed in a double-glazed frame and viewing stand, along with a CDV of Lincoln.
