Description

Abraham Lincoln Autograph Endorsement Signed. One page, 3" x 2.25"; no place; July 26, 1861. Lincoln refers a matter to his Secretary of the Navy, Gideon Welles. He writes: "Respectfully referred to the Sec. of Navy. A. Lincoln. July 26, 1861." It was reported in the Washington Evening Star the next day that Lincoln had visited the Navy Yard that evening with Senator William Fessenden to observe experiments with a new weapon.

Matted and framed with a picture of Lincoln and an informational plaque to an overall size of 23" x 18.75". Not examined out of the frame.

Condition: Very clean paper. There is showthrough from two strips of mounting tape on the verso. Frame has occasional nicks and scratches.
