Description

Abraham Lincoln Appointment of Ambassador to Peru Signed "Abraham Lincoln". One partially printed page, 15.75" x 11" (sight), Washington, D.C.; June 8, 1861. Lincoln authorizes and appoints "Christopher Robinson, of Rhode Island, to be Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Peru...until the end of the next session of the Senate of the United States, and no longer..." Boldly signed by Lincoln. Countersigned by William H. Seward as Secretary of State. With a blind embossed seal of the United States at the lower left. The document is matted and framed to the overall size of 27" x 22.25". Robinson served as Minister to Peru from 1861-1866.

Condition: Flattened folds, with minor foxing throughout and edge toning. There are some small areas of soiling at the lower left and right edges. Overall good.
