    Abraham Lincoln Addressed Postal Cover. 5" x 3", postmarked Springfield, Illinois; April [n.d., no year]. Addressed in Lincoln's hand "Jas. F. Babcock, Esq. / New Haven, Connecticut." With a red 3¢ George Washington stamp. Babcock (1809-1874) was the editor of the New Haven Palladium. He had been a former Whig, who like Lincoln, became a Republican.

    Condition: The envelope is missing the top flap and has been opened at the two sides. Usual mail wear and soiling. "Lincoln" has been written in an unknown hand in pencil at the upper left corner.
