Description

Abigail Adams Document Signed. One page, 7.75" x 3", Quincy [Massachusetts]; October 19, 1811. A signed receipt to Thomas B. Adams. It reads in part: "Received Quincy 19th October 1811 of Thomas B. Adams the Sum of Twenty five Dollars in full for a quarter's dividend on West Boston Bridge Shares, belonging to John Adams..." Signed, "Abigail Adams."

Thomas B. Adams (1772-1832) was the youngest son of Abigail and John Adams. He studied law and worked as John Quincy Adams' secretary before falling deeply in debt due to his gambling and alcohol addiction.

Condition: Light edgewear with minor soiling. Smoothed folds.
