    Two James Buchanan Books Signed including: Sir Walter Scott. Guy Mannering; or the Astrologer. Vol. II. Philadelphia: Printed and Published by J. Maxwell, 1820. 16mo, 293 pages. Signed by the future president on the title page, "James Buchanan." Also inscribed on the front free endpaper "Harriat [sic] E. Buchanan/Presented by her Brother/James Buchanan" in an unknown hand, possibly Harriet's. Bound in publisher's original binding. A fair copy. [and:] William Cranch. Reports of Cases Argued and Adjudged in the Supreme Court of the United States in August and December Terms, 1801, and February Term, 1803. Vol. I. New York: Printed by C. Wiley, 1812. Second edition. 8vo, 479 pages. Originally belonging to the ninth president, William Henry Harrison, it is signed by James Buchanan, "James Buchanan," on the title page, below which appears a signature that has been erased. Original brown leather binding; very heavily worn. Fair. Both signatures are clear and elegantly written. These two items would serve any Buchanan collection well.
