"The world's oldest astronaut."

Twenty-Three Early Astronaut Signatures on a Large Humorous Photo. An 11" x 14" matte finish B&W photo of an older gentleman wearing a spacesuit-type helmet, rumored to be an LTV employee in the early 1960s. This one-of-a-kind photo is signed by an astonishing group of early NASA astronauts. It was obtained by an LTV Astronautics Division pilot who worked with their Manned Aerospace Flight Simulator program. The signatures are listed by location. The helmet (clockwise from lower left): "Elliot See" (1927-1966); "Scott Carpenter*"; "Neil Armstrong"; "Edward H White II*" (1930-1967); "Alan B Shepard Jr" (1923-1998); "Gus Grissom [with added Mercury Seven symbol]" (1926-1967)"; "James Lovell'"; "Wally Schirra [with added Sigma 7 symbol]" (1923-2007); "Thomas P Stafford*"; "James A McDivitt*"; and "Charles Conrad Jr*" (1930-1999). The face (clockwise from bottom): "Bill Anders*"; "Buzz Aldrin"; "Charlie Bassett*" (1931-1966); "Gene Cernan"; "Walt Cunningham"; "Gordon Cooper" (1927-2004); and "Alan L Bean". The chin strap (left to right): "Frank Borman"; "Roger B Chaffee" (1935-1967); and "C Williams" (1932-1967). The jumpsuit (left to right): "John Young" and "D K Slayton" (1924-1993). There are two additional signatures above and below Slayton that are not identified. Seven of the twelve moonwalkers are represented here as well as the original crew of Gemini 9 and the crew of Apollo 1. The ink on several of the signatures has faded through the years, likely from display. Most are quite acceptable, but seven are barely visible except under raked light- these are indicated above with an asterisk (*) next to the name. We can almost guarantee that this will be the most unique and interesting item in the lucky winning bidder's collection. Generally in very good condition with some edge defects and one closed tear at lower left affecting no signatures.
