    Description

    Thomas Nast Original Ink Drawing Signed "Th: Nast." One page, 5" x 8", 1898. Nast (1840-1902), known today for creating the modern image of Santa Claus, was friends with comedian Francis Wilson. Wilson was set to appear as Napoleon in the opera The Little Corporal. Here, Nast drew Wilson as Napoleon making the Sphinx laugh. Toning to the left edge, else fine.
