    Thomas Jefferson Signed Scallop Top Ship's Passport. One partially printed page on vellum, 10.25" x 14.75", Washington, D.C.; February 23, 1805. Issued to the "Ship Dart of New York - John E. Brewster, master or commander, of the burthen of Five Hundred Seventeen & 46/95 tons...mounted with no guns, navigated with Ten men." With a blind embossed paper seal. Countersigned by James Madison as Secretary of State. Docketing on verso.

    Condition: With flattened folds, the paper is stiff where the creases occur. Light edge and fold toning. The edges are slightly uneven. Some adhesive residue along the top edge on verso.
