    Thomas Jefferson Four Language Ship's Paper Signed "Th:o Jefferson." One page, 21" x 16.5", New Orleans; January 21, 1806. This passport, printed in English, French, Spanish, and Dutch authorizes passage of "E. Caswell - master or commander of the Brig called Sally of Boston of the burthen of 165 14/95 tons or thereabouts, lying at present in the port of New Orleans bound for Liverpool and laden with Sundries as for Clearance." Countersigned by James Madison as Secretary of State and Richard J. Avery as Collector. Paper Seal of the United States affixed at the left and a red wax seal affixed at bottom left. The document is mounted onto a slightly larger sheet of paper, measuring 21.25" x 16.5" overall. Accompanied by an engraving of Jefferson.

    Condition: Flattened folds, with soiling at the folds. A few areas of soiling throughout as well. Light toning throughout. Creasing around the seals. Chipping at edges. Tape at the edges where the document is mounted to the paper.
