Theodore Roosevelt Typed Letter Signed with a Holographic Postscript, one page, 8" x 11", Buffalo, New York, September 7, 1901, to Miss E.E. McCoy, Elsinore, California. Writing as Vice-President, Roosevelt states in type, "I am in receipt of your favor of the 27th ultimo. I hardly think that as you study history yourself you will find it possible to answer any such question as you put-certainly not if you study history deeply." As an after-thought, he adds in manuscript, "A student of history does not have 'favorite' characters; many different men arouse admiration or attract attention for many different traits." Brown toning with an area of acid transfer from an old catalog description accompanying the letter. Very good condition. From the collection of Henry E. Luhrs.
