The Roosevelt family gets a new dog

Theodore Roosevelt Typed Letter Signed as President. One page on White House stationery, 7" x 8.75", Washington, D.C.; November 21, 1907. A get well letter to Emma Allison sharing information on a new Roosevelt family dog: "I am so sorry to learn that you have been sick, and I am so pleased that you are getting on well now. I hope you will soon be out of bed and just as bright as ever. Since I have come back to the White House we have gotten a new little dog for the White House called Scamp. He is a black-and-tan and very merry. We hope he will take the place of a very dear little dog called Skip which belonged to Archie and which died last summer. Your father's friend, Theodore Roosevelt."

Emma Vaughn Allison, daughter of his friend John Allison, was twelve years old when President Roosevelt sent her this sweet letter. The second paragraph of Roosevelt's letter refers to a new White House dog, named Scamp. The Roosevelt family had many pets in the White House, including a dog named Skip as well as small bear, a lizard, a pig, guinea pigs, and a pony. Ex. R. Douglas Stuart.

Condition: Large mounting remnants on verso do not affect the letter. The letter has a single horizontal mail fold and is in good condition.
