    Description

President Roosevelt inscribes a photograph to Mexican President Diaz

Theodore Roosevelt Signed Photograph Inscribed to Mexican President Porfirio Diaz. Measuring 3.75" x 5.5", the mustachioed Roosevelt is seen in a chest up portrait by C.M. Bell Photographic Co., facing slightly to his right, wearing a three piece suit and pince-nez. Affixed to a mount to an overall size of 6" x 8". Below the image, he has inscribed: "From a well-wisher to Mexico, and an admirer of its illustrious chief, President [Porfirio] Diaz, and with the regard of [signed] Theodore Roosevelt / September 1904." Two months later, TR, who had assumed the presidency with the 1901 assassination of William McKinley, won his first full term as president. Scattered spots of foxing and waterstaining do not detract from the beauty of the image.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
