    Description

Theodore Roosevelt Photograph Inscribed and Signed as president. Measuring 10.25" x 14.25" (sight), Roosevelt is seen in this 1898, sepia-toned, chest length Pack Brothers image wearing suit and tie and ubiquitous pince-nez. Below the image, he has written: "Oct. 20th, 1904/with best wishes for the campaign association now formed in the district where I formerly lived. May good fortune attend you! Theodore Roosevelt."

Following the assassination of President William McKinley after only six months in office, forty-two year old Theodore Roosevelt, McKinley's vice president, was thrust into the Oval Office. Throughout his first term, he devised a strategy on how to legitimately win the presidency in 1904. Nominated unanimously by the GOP at the Republican National Convention, "Teddy" went on to defeat Alton Parker in a landslide.

A very fine image, elegantly matted and framed to an overall size of 18.5" x 23.75".

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
