Theodore Roosevelt Autograph Letter Signed. Three integral pages, 5.25" x 6.75", "Sagamore Hill [Oyster Bay, New York]," October 9, 1911, to Mrs. Thomas Hitchcock regarding the health of his wife. In part: "Titine handed me your most kind and thoughtful note. Mrs. Roosevelt was very much better yesterday; I am afraid she has a rather long convalescence ahead of her; but she is undoubtedly, altho slowly, improving."

An avid reader, Roosevelt adds a postscript: "I thoroly [sic] enjoyed 'A Golden Wedding' which I am returning. Miss [Ruth McEnery] Stuart is a charming writer; and I am really obliged to you for having let me read the stories." With original transmittal envelope also in his hand.

Roosevelt was in retirement in 1911, having spent time hunting in Africa, but he was about to hit the campaign trail again in search of a third, non-consecutive term for president as the candidate for the Progressive Party (more popularly known as the Bull Moose Party). He would narrowly lose his 1912 presidential bid to Woodrow Wilson.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
