DescriptionTexas Declaration Signer Asa Brigham Document Signed as Alcalde. One page with docketed integral, 8" x 13". "Department of [the] Brasos [sic] Jurisdiction of Columbia"; January 25, 1835. A legal filing by Meriwether W. Smith assigning "messrs. Seague & Ainsworth my legal agents and attorneys in law and in fact." Smith and Brigham sign below. Six months after signing this power of attorney, Smith and 57 others agreed to assemble in Harrisburg for the purpose of attacking Mexican forces at Anahuac. Smith would not participate in the attack, but brought news of the action to Henry Smith at Columbia. Smith represented Harrisburg at the 1835 Consultation. A nice association document.
