    Sylvia Plath Membership Card Signed "Sylvia Plath Hughes". 4" x 2.5", No place; circa 1959-1960. A signed membership card for "The Poetry Society of America", for the year 1959-1960. Plath's name and address are included on the card. Plath had met fellow poet Ted Hughes in February 1956, and the pair were married by June of the same year. At the time this membership card was signed, Plath and Hughes spent some time at the Yaddo artist colony in Saratota Springs, NY before moving back to England in December 1959. The following October, Plath published her first collection of poems titled The Colossus.

    Condition: Toning and creasing along the left vertical edge. Light wear throughout, but with a bold, clear signature.
