DescriptionSupreme Court: Letter Signed by 10 Justices. Typed Letter Signed "Charles E. Hughes," one page, 8" x 10.5". Albany, March 11, 1908. New York Governor Hughes sends his autograph to Manning P. Brown of Passaic, New Jersey. Charles Evans Hughes later served as Associate Justice (1910-1916) and Chief Justice (1930-1941) of the Supreme Court. A collector had the following nine Justices add their signatures to this letter in the upper right margin: Hugo L. Black (Associate Justice, 1937-1971), W.O. Douglas (1939-1975), Potter Stewart (1958-1981), Wm. J. Brennan (1956-1990), Byron R. White (1962-1993), John M. Harlan (1955-1971), Warren E. Burger (Chief Justice, 1969-1986), Thurgood Marshall (1967-1991), and Harry A. Blackmun (1970-1994). Light mounting stains on verso. Fine condition.
