DescriptionWilliam Samuel Johnson Partial Document Signed. Partly printed, 6.25" x 1.2"; Stratford; March 12, 1776. A portion of a writ signed, "Wm Saml Johnson." Educated at Yale and later at Oxford, where he received a degree of doctor of civil law, Johnson served as a judge of the superior court of Connecticut. He attended the convention for forming the US Constitution, and signed as a representative of Connecticut.
Condition: Affixed to a slightly larger sheet of paper measuring 7.25" x 1.5". Bold signature, with a slight smear at the very end.
