One page, 9.5" x 7.25", May 10, 1784, commanding "...Daniel Cooke being chosen, by the General Assembly of the State aforesaid, elected and chosen to the Place and Office of Justice of the Peace in the Town of Providence in the County of Providence...are hereby, in the Name of the Governor and Company of the said State, commissioned, authorized, and empowered , to do all Things required by you of Law..." With blind embossed paper seal at top left; docketing on verso. Unevenly toned with chipping at the edges.
More Information: William Greene served four intermittent terms as colonial governor of Rhode Island between 1743 and 1758. His son, of the same name, would serve as the second governor of the state of Rhode Island.
