Watergate Scandal Signed Photograph and Other Items. One page, 10.5" x 8", np, nd. Includes: an extraordinary photograph of the committee on the Judiciary House of Representatives authorized to investigate whether sufficient grounds exist to impeach Richard M. Nixon, signed by each member of the Congressional Watergate Committee. Also signed by those indicated; Hunt, Magruder, Haldeman, and Ehrlichman. The scandals known as Watergate include the criminal acts of break-ins and bugging at Democratic National Headquarters in Washington, the subsequent cover-up, various acts of sabotage against the Democrats in the 1972 presidential campaign, secret payments of hush money to the Watergate burglars, the burglary of the office of Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist, Richard Nixon's federal tax return claims and perjury in connection with the investigation into a possible connection between the settlement of antitrust suits against the International Telephone & Telegraph Co. and its pledges for money for the Republican National Convention. In all 26 former Nixon aides and agents pled guilty or were convicted. The scandal forced Nixon to resign from office in disgrace. The signed photograph has been signed by all 43 members, mostly on the wide lower white margin. In addition, the reverse has been inscribed and signed by John J. Sirica (dated 10/1/74) and signed by John Ehrlichman, Jeb Magruder, Bob Haldeman, Leon Jaworski, Howard Hunt, James F. Neal as well as eight others. Accompanied by a TLS and a signed photograph, from Archibald Cox to the same collector; an ink sketch of Sirica beneath the great seal of the United States, inscribed in the lower margin: "A sketch of John Sirica on the bench, made during my trial...with best wishes, John Ehrlichman, 3-1-83". Truly a unique and irreplaceable group of items relating to the Watergate scandal. Very fine condition overall.
