    Description

Warren Court Photograph Signed by All Nine Supreme Court Justices, ca. 1968. Large (14" x 11") and attractive b/w photograph (with Harris & Ewing of Washington, D.C., stamp in lower right) featuring Chief Justice Earl Warren sitting in the center of the eight associate justices. The nine signatures are signed on the white margin below the photograph. Signers include Abe Fortas, Potter Stewart, Byron R. White, Thurgood Marshall, John M. Harlan, Hugo L. Black, Earl Warren, William Douglas, and William J. Brennan Jr. The Warren Court markedly shifted the prevailing American judicial philosophy, especially by helping to end racial segregation and government-sanctioned prayer in public schools. Other significant decisions of the Court concerned voting, criminal procedure, free speech, and reproductive rights.
