This is certificate number 1815 issued to Henry Austin in the amount of $500.00, "with interest from 14th Oct 1836 till paid @ 8 pct annum." With an endorsement signature by Henry Austin on the verso. Henry Austin (1782-1852) was Stephen F. Austin's cousin. He arrived in Texas in 1831 and settled in the Brazos establishing a practice in law and land dealings. From the Robert E. Davis Collection.
Condition: Gently toned. With cut cancellation resulting in paper loss at left affecting the controller's signature; and holographic cancellation traversing the document at center.
