DescriptionThomas William Ward and Albert Clinton Horton Signed Land Grant. A single vellum sheet, 15" x 13". Austin, August 27, 1846. A grant for 320 acres in Fannin County issued to William G. Thompson. Ward signs as Commissioner of the General Land office, and Horton signs as governor pro tem for then Governor James Pinckney Henderson, who left to command a regiment of
Texas volunteers at the start of the Mexican War.
Condition: Flattened folds, and lightly toned; a few stray spots of foxing at the very edges. Both signatures are bold.
