Samuel M. Williams Document Signed. Two pages, 8.75" x 13.5". County of Galveston; July 28, 1839. Partly printed document in which E.P. Myrick and Samuel Williams are bound to inventory the estate of Thomas W. Johnson. Signed "Samuel M Williams". The verso of the document appoints Myrick as executor of the Johnson estate.

Samuel May Williams (1795-1858) arrived in Texas in 1822 and was hired by Stephen F. Austin as a translator and secretary. In 1835, he was named a revolutionary by the Mexican government (along with six others) for raising money to oppose President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. He escaped arrest by fleeing to the United States, where he spent the Texas Revolution raising money for the cause. He served in the Texas Congress as a representative of Galveston County in 1839.

Condition: Uneven toning, and filing holes along left margin. Top of document has some creasing, small tears, and bits of paper loss; none of which affect any text.
