Salmon P. Chase: Autograph Letter Signed to Julia Dent Grant. 5" x 8" ALS, 1p. with blank integral leaf, Washington, D.C., March 5, 1869, signed "S. P. Chase", written to "Mrs. President Grant". Written the day after Grant's inauguration (at which Chief Justice Chase officiated), it reads, in full: "Dear Madam My friend Col. Parsons the Marshal of the Supreme Court will place in your hands the Book in which your honored husband took the oath of office yesterday. His lips pressed the 121st Psalm. The Book will, I am sure, be to you a precious memorial of an auspicious day; destined, I trust, to be ever associated in American remembrance with the perfected restoration of peace & with the renewal & increase of prosperity throughout our Country. With earnest desires that the aspiration of the Psalmist may be fulfilled in you, & him & to our whole people, I remain Very faithfully yours S. P. Chase". The original Bible signed by Chase was sold at Sotheby's in 1985. Written in purple ink, the text has faded, but is still somewhat legible.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
