DescriptionRobert Morris North American Land Company Bond Signed "Robt Morris." One partially printed page, 12.75"x 9.5", Philadelphia, April 18, 1795, No. 1528, certifying that "D. Enoch Edwards is entitled to four Shares in the entire Property of the North American Land Company, the Dividend whereof shall not be less than Six Dollars on each Share..." Scallop cut along left, with light chipping to the margins, two pin holes and light creases. Overall mildly toned.
Robert Morris (1734-1806), known as the "Financier of the Revolution," was one of the few to sign the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, and the U. S. Constitution. Enoch Edwards, a surgeon by trade, was a leading patriot who served as a member of the June 18, 1776 Provincial Congress, and a signer of the 1790 Pennsylvania Constitution. Counter signed by Secretary James Marshall, brother of future chief justice John Marshall.
