A grant of 640 acres of land "In Runnels County . . . on the waters of Coyote Creek, a Tributary of Colorado River about 12 ¼ miles N.E. of Fort Chadbourne" to "the H. & T.C.R.R. Co. [the Houston and Texas Central Railroad Company]". Blind embossed state seal and blind embossed General Land Office seal are at the left. Fort Chadbourne was established in 1852 to protect Texas' western frontier. Hubbard, the 16th Governor of Texas, served during Reconstruction as a Democrat. Very fine condition.
