Schuyler was an American general in the Revolutionary War and later, a New York senator. In part: "I have a sloop at Mr. Cosemans to take in wood, but she cannot load for want of a Boat. Be so good as to lend me your flat boat that used to be employed on a ferry boat. . . ."
