    Oliver Wolcott Jr. Letter Signed as Secretary of the Treasury. One page, 8" x 10", [Washington], September 9, 1796, to Jeremiah Olney, Collector at the port of Providence, Rhode Island. Oliver Wolcott Jr. signs a letter accompanying a certified copy of a United States Supreme Court ruling to Jeremiah Olney informing him of a decision against two prominent Providence, Rhode Island merchants.With the usual fold creases, some toning along the edges, otherwise bright, legible and in near fine condition.

    More Information:

    It reads in full" "Sir Enclosed I transmit to you, a certified copy of the decision had in the Supreme Court of the United States in the cases in which you were Plaintiff in error against Welcome Arnold and Edward Dexter. I shall only add, that the fortunate issue of the business in question cannot fail to produce consequences, highly favorable to a due observance of the Revenue Laws of the United States".
