DescriptionOliver Ellsworth Autograph Document Signed. One page, 8.25" x 3", Hartford [Connecticut]; February 3, 1777. A receipt of payment of 5 pounds 15 shillings to Oliver Jewell from Ellsworth "for transporting from Salisbury to Hartford one Ton 3 Hundd. Ordinance [sic] Stores for the State." The receipt is also signed by Jewell.
Condition: The document is tipped into a larger sheet so that both sides are visible and has flattened folds and light creasing and soiling.
Oliver Ellsworth (1745-1807) was an American lawyer and politician from Connecticut. He was a drafter of the U.S. Constitution, served in the U.S. Senate, and was appointed the third Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
