A land grant for a first class headrightMirabeau Lamar Signed Land Grant. Single sheet, docketed on the verso, 14.75" x 12.75". Austin; July 9, 1841. A land grant signed by Mirabeau Lamar while he was President of the Republic of Texas, for one league and 129,800 square yards of land situated in Harrison County, north of the Sabine River, to Richard Hooper, "being part of his headright." Hooper arrived in Texas in February 1836, prior to the signing of the Texas Declaration, entitling him to a first class headright, as awarded by this grant. He served as a commander of a company formed in San Augustine from July to October 1836. At the bottom left are two blind embossed seals: one of the Texas General Land Office, and the other the Great Seal of the Republic.
Condition: Smoothed folds, scattered foxing and light toning throughout. Tiny holes of loss in a few spots, with a small area rubbed through in the top margin.
