John J. Linn Autograph Letter Signed to John Twohig. One page, two sided, 8vo, Victoria, September 5, 1869. John Joseph Linn, merchant, statesman, soldier, and historian, writes to San Antonio merchant and banker John Twohig on business matters, specifically a shipment of freight. During the Republic of Texas era, Linn, the last alcalde of Victoria, was elected the town's first mayor, in April 1839. He served in the House of the Second and Third congresses of the Republic of Texas and later served Victoria again as mayor in 1865. Linn was a leader in the establishment in 1850 of the San Antonio and Mexican Gulf Railway, and as such, had regular business dealings with John Twohig. Twohig was one of fifteen San Antonians held in Perote Prison who cut a tunnel and effected an escape on July 2, 1843; Twohig was one of nine not recaptured. Following the war, Twohig returned to San Antonio, became a banker, and was widely known for his breadline for the unfortunate. Linn sends his regards and reminisces about old acquaintances. Letter is lightly age toned. One torn corner and a pea-sized section missing at fold. Generally fine. From the Taking of Texas Collection.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
