John Hanson Jr. (1715-1783) was the uneducated son of a planter who held a number of Legislative positions in Maryland before and after the American Revolution, culminating in his election to the Continental Congress as a Maryland delegate. He would later sign the Articles of Confederation and be elected President of Congress from 1781-1782.
