Jefferson Davis Carte de Visite Signed "Jeffn. Davis." Measuring 2.5" x 4", the Confederate president is seen in this sepia-toned, vignetted portrait wearing a high collar shirt and tie. Below his image, Davis has placed his name. Lumpkin & Co. backstamp. On the verso is written, "Given by Jefferson Davis to my sister Alcinda Morgan (afterwards Mrs. G. W. Robinson of Baltimore Maryland) she was the only soprano of St. Paul's church, Richmond during the 4 years of Civil War. Here Davis and Lee worshipped. Signed Virginia M. Robinson (Mrs. J. Enders Robinson) 113 S. 3rd St." Scattered spots of staining do not affect the image or the signature, which is bold.

Virginia Robinson was the wife of John Enders Robinson, grandson of John Enders Sr. who originally owned the buildings that would become Libby Prison in Richmond. The ownership was then split between his mother and her sister, the daughters of Enders Sr.
