    Description

    James Seddon Appointment Signed "James A. Seddon" as Confederate Secretary of War. One partially printed page, 7.75" x 10", Richmond; June 9, 1864. Addressed to Lieutenant A.J. Toutant, appointing him, on behalf of President Jefferson Davis, to "First Lieutenant and Aid de Camp in the Provisional Army in service of the Confederate States...Should you accept, you will report for duty to Genl Beauregard."

    Condition: Flattened folds, with edge and fold toning. Minor edge chipping, with repairs at the edges and folds on verso with archival tape.
