DescriptionJames Hamilton Autograph Letter Signed. One page of a bifolium, 6" x 9", no date, to Benjamin Chew, sending Gum Arabic in powder form as a dressing for an eye complaint of a friend. In part: "I have sent powder enough for two or three dressings, but confess my concern that Mr Rodendy should apply it without Dr. Boude...I hope Mr Rodendy will be careful of hurting his eye and heartily wish all success in the application. James Hamilton was the Governor of Pennsylvania from 1748-1754, and then again from 1759-1763.
Condition: Light toning, usual mail folds, some paper loss on verso at edge where document was sealed. Small strips of tape on verso at corners. A small slip of paper with description has been attached at bottom.
