DescriptionJ. Pinckney Henderson Signed Land Grant. Single vellum sheet, 15.5" x 13.75"; City of Austin; September 27, 1847. A land grant issued to George Kenedy for land in Lamar County. Countersigned by Thomas William "Peg Leg" Ward as commissioner of the general land office. A plat map of the land is on verso, as well as a filing docket.
Condition: Three small clean cuts (each about half an inch long, with no paper loss) in lower left area around the last lines of text. The blind embossed seal is now affixed with cello tape. Untrimmed, with evidence of the plate. A bit of foxing at the edges.
