Acting President David Burnet endorses an act regarding his salary

David Burnet Endorsement Signed on the verso of a Republic of Texas document entitled "An Act." One page, 8.5" x 10.75", n.p., January 18, 1841. The act reads in part, "To make provisions for the Vice President while performing the duties of President. . . . That, the Vice President of the Republic so long as he performs the duties of President shall receive the same compensation as is allowed by law to the President of the Republic to be paid out of any Monies in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated." The document is signed on the recto by a secretary for House Speaker David S. Kaufman, President pro tempore of the Senate Anson Jones, and David G. Burnet. The act was approved on January 18, 1841.

At the close of the Texas Revolution in 1836, David Burnet served as ad interim president of the Republic of Texas. Following Sam Houston's term as the first elected president of the republic (1836-1838), Burnet was elected vice president under President Mirabeau Lamar. During that term, Burnet served part time as acting president, which was the reason for this act allowing him compensation commensurate with his duties. Docketing on verso above Burnet's signature. The paper has toned and has minor separations.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
