    Collection of Colonial American Currency and Documents. There are seven pieces of Pennsylvania Continental currency in this lot as follows: (1) One Shilling (April 3, 1772 issue); (1) Two Shillings & Six-pence, (1) Ten Shillings, (2) Fifteen Shillings, and (2) Fifty Shillings (all October 1, 1773 issues). This lot contains ten documents, some partly-printed, some manuscript, all from the pre-Revolutionary War period including: a summons for a George Leonard to appear on a charge of "...being guilty of fornication and being [illegible] with a Bastard Child &c..." in Taunton, Massachusetts; a signed statement regarding a paternity case from Plymouth dated 1755; a 1771 Virginia manuscript proclaiming that a Samuel Clerk is indebted to John King for 990 pounds of tobacco; and an excellent folio Document Signed by Gabriel Jones, a close friend of George Washington and the person who sponsored Washington's entry into public life as a burgess. Overall fine condition, some notes have mounting traces on verso. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
